Bakuman anime review
January 15th 2011 08:07
Bakuman is an anime adapted from the manga with the same title. The manga is created by Takeshi Obata and Tsugumi Oba.
Genres: comedy, drama, romance
Themes: manga, school
Synopsis: Moritaka Mashiro, a junior high school student, content to live out a relatively normal life as any other does, is persuaded by his classmate, Akito Takagi, to become an aspiring mangaka when the latter realizes his natural talent as an artist. However, Moritaka is reluctant to pursue his dream as his uncle, once a mangaka with his own serializations, died from overwork trying to regain his lost status. With Akito's help, Takagi gets another classmate and his school crush, Azuki Miho, who is an aspiring voice actress, to voice in the anime adaptation of their future manga once it is completed. However, Mashiro also proposes to Azuki, who surprisingly accepts only on the condition she will marry him when both of them have achieved their dreams. With a goal set before him, Mashiro begins a long and struggling path to become a famous mangaka.

I'm watching this anime because I have read the manga. Comparing side by side, I just have to say that Obata's artwork is a bit lost for the anime version. It's a little bit disappointed at first but after getting used to it, I don't really care so much about the artwork anymore.
Since I have read the manga, I noticed that the storyline is the same with the manga version, with a little bit of addition here and there. However, the addition does not affect the overall storyline but it only serves as a differentiation between the manga and anime version and to fit the anime storyline.
Putting manga and anime version aside, I'm pretty much very happy with this anime because this anime is focusing on how the manga is created. I don't know how the manga is created so watching this anime (or reading the manga version) gives me a glimpse of the hardship of creating a wonderful manga.
This anime is focusing a lot of elements such as hardship, perseverance, determination and dream so this anime is truly inspiring. If you ever need some sort of motivation to pursue your dream, I think watching this anime will give you the uplift that you desire. This is truly the anime that I highly recommend you to watch.
