I'm really happy that there's second season for this anime but unfortunately, I totally forgotten about the storyline for the first season. So, it's kinda hard to recall back what really was happening in the first season since the second season is slightly related with what happened in the first season. Of course, some of the familiar characters in first season appeared in the second season but some don't last very long. So, it can be very hard for you to understand the storyline without watching the first season. The first season has a strong introduction about contractors issues so I highly suggest you to watch the first season before jumping into the second season.
The storyline for the second season is more fast-paced compared to the first season so you won't be so bored with the lengthy explanation of what's going on. But do bear in mind though that fast-paced storyline equals to more mysteries. It can be very frustrated when the episode is about the end whenever there is something bound to happen. Yup, I do feel so eager to watch the next episode whenever the storyline is almost close to unravel the mystery. The storyline can also makes you confused too if you don't pay much attention and if you have missed one or more episodes. So, please don't miss any of those episodes otherwise you won't understand anything especially the storyline becomes rather complicated when it's almost reaching the end. Some of the things aren't explained in the second season but you will be able to understand more if you watched the OVA (which I will write a review about it later).
Now, I really want to focus on two of the characters that I like the most, Hei and Mao. So, I'll start with Hei first. Again, I'm sorry for the spoilers if you haven't watched the second season yet. It's hard for me to believe that Hei looks like....kinda like a beggar to me where he had a sloppy appearance with beard, unkempt hair and all he did is just drink. Of course, this is totally different than Hei we have known from the first season. I don't like this kind of Hei but I'm glad I'm able to see the old Hei (yes, I'm referring to the cool Hei that we have always known) in the later episode. So, I'm glad that he's back to normal. But I have never thought that he can be a lolicon, lol.
As for Mao, he is no longer be in a cat body but in a flying squirrel. There's nothing much I can say about him because he's still the same like the first season personality-wise. But you can say that Hei's companion has become totally different with July and Kirihara Misaki (partially) is on Hei's side.
Overall, I would say that the second season is as amazing as the first season and it's even better than the first season! I rarely find anime that has second season rather good so it's a surprising thing for me that the second season is awesome. I wish they continue with the third season but sadly, BONES said there won't be any continuation for this anime. Even though there won't be any continuation for this anime, but I do hope that you can give this anime a try - both for first and second season.
