Detroit Metal City (DMC) is an anime adapted from the manga by Kiminori Wakasugi. DMC is also adapted into live-action movie.
Genres: Comedy
Synopsis: Soichi Negishi is a shy young man who came from the rural Ota Prefecture to Tokyo for college and wished to become a kindergarten teacher. However, for some reason he became the singer and songwriter of a metal band named "Detroit Metal City," with a stage name "Johannes Krauser II." Whenever he wears the heavy makeup, Negishi becomes a completely different person, shouting the most vulgar profanities beyond anyone's imagination. With the popularity of DMC increases, Negishi starts worrying his double personalities can have negative effects on his (romantic) life off stage.

Comment: If you never been exposed or never know about KISS, I can say that you would never ever watch this kind of anime because of its appearance. My friend who accidentally watch this anime will never ever think of watching this anime. Well, it's because she rarely watch anime so she thinks this anime is scary. Well, I know KISS but the only KISS song that I like is Psycho Circus....okay, I'll stop bragging about KISS. When I listen to the OP, I was laughing hard on the lyrics because it's funny. I find the OP is unpleasant because I was turned off with the lyrics but let's just put that aside. This anime is fulls of bad words and cursing so it's definitely not suitable for kids. And this anime also contains lots of sadistic behavior therefore another reason not suitable for kids and normal people (like my friend). Despite of lots of cursing and sadistic behavior, this is a totally hilarious anime because they always do something that you've never imagined before. I find that it's a refreshing anime because the jokes are very sarcastic and it's definitely not blunt. I really recommend this anime if you're looking for something that won't make you stop laughing. Who knows, you might want to listen to KISS after that? XD
You can purchase the DVD with English subtitles here:
Screencaps:
Credit to Kurogane for the first screencap and Anime History Blog for the second screencap. I'd love to find more screencaps but sadly the connection has become slower. But I hope you'll give this anime a try and have fun watching it (^_____^)
