Durarara! is an anime adapted from the manga which is written by Ryogo Narita.
Genres: action, psychological, romance, supernatural

When you read the synopsis, you must be thinking that the story will always focus on Ryuugamine alone. Usually, the main character will always be the main focal point, right? Well, that's the sort of thoughts that I have when I read the synopsis until I watched the first episode. Well, it does talks a bit about Ryuugamine coming to Ikebukuro for the first time, but the story doesn't really focus much about it. What this anime is trying portray here is rather than focused on one individual, it focused on chain of friendship, beginning from knowing one person will also lead to another person. Therefore, at the end, you feel like the storyline is focusing on everybody with each of them will have a story to tell in each episode.
Speaking about the storyline, it seems random at first but in the later episode, these episodes will start to link with each other to become one complete storyline. So if you think the storyline is pretty much random, apparently it's not. I have watched until episode 19 when I'm writing this review so I can pretty much say that the last few episodes will definitely be chained to form another conclusion. You will say that isn't it normal for any anime to have this kind of plot expansion? Well, in Durarara!'s case, the event that you think may have not be related at all will be chained together with related event to create a new one. The storyline may sounds complex but it's not really that complex. At least you can spare yourself from weird jargon.
There are a few interesting things about this anime. Firstly is how they do the recap for the previous episode. Usually, we always have the recap of the previous episodes after the OP is finished but in Durarara!, the recap is done in the middle of the OP itself, so you can say that it's kinda like a sudden recall. I think this part is pretty impressive. Another thing is specifically if you have watched too many anime. I would say this is the first anime that I watched that has many hints of other anime. Okay, if it's really confusing, let me explain to you. In the first episode, I have spotted Horo from Spice and Wolf on the first episode. Then, I also have spotted Hime from Yozakura Quartet, I think in the third or fourth episode. Another anime that I have spotted in this anime are Jigoku Shoujo Futakomori and Darker Than BLACK - Ryuusei no Gemini. Isn't that cool that you can spot other anime in Durarara!? I think there are some anime also featured in this anime but I have no idea what is that. I thought that I have watched too many anime but looks like I don't really watched that many, lol.
Honestly, this anime is pretty much very unique to me because it doesn't really resemble the kind of anime we always watch. Even though there is nothing special about the character design, but they do have distinctive personality that you find it very captivating. Okay, this is indeed a must-watch anime. If you haven't, you really have missed out here.
