Itazura na Kiss anime review

November 21st 2008 13:19
Itazura na Kiss is an anime adapted from the manga by Kaoru Tada. The manga was serialized in Bessatsu Magaret. This anime consists of 26 episodes altogether.

Genres: comedy, drama, romance

Synopsis: In the romantic comedy story, a high school girl named Kotoko finally tells a fellow senior named Naoki that she has loved him from afar since she saw him on their first day of high school. However, Naoki, a haughty "super-ikemen" (handsome male) with smarts and sports talent, rejects her offhand. Fate intervenes when a mild earthquake ruins Kotoko's family house. While the house gets rebuilt, Kotoko and her dad stay at the home of her dad's childhood friend...whose son is Naoki.

Comment: If you have read my previous post, I wasn't really fond of watching shoujo anime and Itazura na Kiss is not an exception. I was watching this because of my friend's recommendation so I just might as well give it a try since people said that it was a nice anime. Well, that's what people think so let me say what I think. This anime is basically just the typical shoujo anime so there's nothing extraordinary in terms of the storyline. Yeah, the girl is kinda cute but stupid and the guy is good looking and good in study and education. What the anime is trying to highlight here that opposites do attract even though it doesn't look like a perfect couple. Okay, I am not a relationship guru but this is what the anime is trying to focus on. From the synopsis, you'll get the drill how the storyline flows. At first, the storyline is the typical storyline you usually find in any romance comedy anime but this anime really does focus their relationship to another level (sorry for the spoiler ahead). The only thing I find it interesting in this anime is the later part of the story where Kotoko has grown and becoming slightly mature than she used to be. I don't really wanna discuss much about their relationship so I just let you be the judge if you're planning to watch this anime. To put it simply, watch this anime if you like shoujo anime. If you don't, I highly suggest that you stay away completely from this anime.
