December 15th 2008 15:25
Jigoku Shoujo Mitsuganae is the continuation of Jigoku Shoujo Futakomori. Currently there are 13 episodes on air by the time this review is written.

Genres: Horror, supernatural

Themes: School life

Synopsis: After Ai Enma's supposed death after the events of the 2nd season, her three helpers, Ichimoku Ren, Wanyuudou and Hone-Onna live out their lives in relative peace. This is suddenly shattered when Kikuri returns to recruit them. Meanwhile, Ai mysteriously reappears from the dead and uses the body of a young schoolgirl, Yuzuki Mikage, to continue the Jigoku Tsushin operation. Yuzuki is aware of Ai's presence however, when she can see what Ai sees.

Comment: I'm really excited that there'll be new season for Jigoku Shoujo but at the same time I was wondering who'll be in charge of Jigoku Tsushin since Enma Ai was supposed to be free from being Jigoku Shoujo. But when I saw the first episode, I was a bit surprised that Enma Ai will go all the way to posses the girl in order to operate Jigoku Tsushin. The reason why Enma Ai posses the girl is still remain unknown but they might probably reveals the reason when the anime is reaching the end. That was usually the case when you refer back to the first season of Jigoku Shoujo where they revealed who really was Jigoku Shoujo. As for the storyline, it's just like the previous season but with the addition that Enma Ai will appear using Yuzuki's body and Yuzuki sees what Enma Ai sees. How they delivered the vengeance isn't as scary as the previous seasons so I must say that the vengeance is mild. The reasons why people seek Jigoku Shoujo sometimes can be totally ridiculous but what they're trying to portray here is that people seek revenge for a very odd and lame reasons. Overall, the storyline isn't that exciting compared to the previous seasons but if you have followed the anime before, you better don't miss the third season if you're curious why Enma Ai would posses that girl and why people from the same town keep calling Jigoku Shoujo.
