Jigoku Shoujo anime review
July 3rd 2008 05:24
Jigoku Shoujo (also known as Hell Girl in English) is an anime and also has been adapted to manga and live-action series. The anime consists of 26 episodes.
Genres: drama, horror, mystery, psychological, supernatural
Age rating: Teenagers (May contain bloody violence, bad language, nudity)
Synopsis: Somewhere in the vast sea of the Internet, there's a website that can only be accessed at the stroke of midnight. Known as the Jigoku Tsushin, rumor has it that if you post a grudge there, the Jigoku Shoujo will appear and drag whoever torments you into the inferno. Very little is known about the girl - all we know for sure is that she lives with her equally enigmatic grandmother, that three magical straw dolls accompany and serve her, and that whenever a posting on the Jigoku Tsushin moves her, she becomes the Jigoku Shoujo.

Comment: Who would have thought that the technology can be used to seek revenge and this is what it is potrayed in Jigoku Shoujo. The first episode itself didn't really explain much who is Jigoku Shoujo but you can guess what she's supposed to do. Basically, most of the episodes are repeating the same pattern all over again but the plot changes in the last few episodes where it will explain Enma Ai's past. How Jigoku Shoujo's carry the vengeance can be very scary and gross most of the time so I highly want you to be aware of this as this can have a huge impact on you if you don't really like those kind of stuff. This anime can be full of angst and despair so if you don't like this kind of anime, you'd better stay away from it. It is still one of the best anime to watch so if you don't mind about all of the things that I've said just now, give this anime a try.
