K-ON! anime review
April 3rd 2010 08:04
I'm really sorry for a very long hiatus so now I'm back with a review as usual. So here's the review for the most anticipated anime last year, K-ON!
K-ON! (pronounced as Keion) is an anime adapted from the manga by kakifly. This anime has 13 episodes altogether.
Genres: comedy, slice of life
Themes: bishoujo, moe, music, school
Synopsis: It's Yui Hirasawa's first year in high school, and she's eagerly searching for a club to join. At the same time, Ritsu Tainaka, a drummer, and her friend Mio Akiyama, a bassist, are desperately trying to save the school's light music club, which is about to be disbanded due to lack of members. They manage to recruit Tsumugi Kotobuki to play the keyboard, meaning they only need one more member to get the club running again. Yui joins, thinking it will be an easy experience for her to play the castanets, the only instrument she knows. However, the other members think their new addition is actually a guitar prodigy...

To be honest, I have no idea why I'm watching this anime in the first place. I do love anime that is band-centric such as NANA so I thought that K-ON! would give me the same feeling I had when I watched NANA. Sadly, it's not like what I have imagined. So yes, you can say that I'm very disappointed with this anime. When I think again, why in the world I'm watching this anime.
Truth to be told, I felt skeptical to watch this anime because I don't fancy all-girls band and they're not visual-kei band. It's not like there is no all-girl visual-kei band (Exist Trace is one, unless I got their genders wrong) so I was still thinking of giving this anime a try despite of my own doubt. Adding with most people are so hype with this anime, it convinced me more to watch this anime as most people are still talking about this anime even until now.
So, yes, I start watching my very first episode and I'm so not in love with this anime. The storyline is lousy, even worst than Suzumiya Haruhi (if you watch this anime, you'll know what I mean). I don't get why many people are so hyped with this anime. Most probably this anime has the most moe content you'll ever get so if you love moe, this anime is the best for you.
Sad but true, I barely finish watching this anime because I do feel like running for the exit. Will I continue watching where I left off? Not in a million I suppose. I have no idea how many people feel hate K-ON! but one thing I know for sure that I hate K-ON!. The only thing I like about K-ON! are only the OP, ED and Mio's outfit during ED. Other than that, it's just another lousy anime that I have no idea why I'm watching it in the first place. You can bash me if you don't agree with me and I'll accept it with an open heart.
