Kyou Kara Maou anime review

Kyou Kara Maou (also known as God? Save Our King!) is an anime adapted from the manga by Tomo Takabayashi. This anime consists of 78 episodes altogether.
Genres: adventure, comedy, fantasy
Theme: bishounen
Age rating: Teenagers (May contain bloody violence, bad language, nudity)
Synopsis: Yuri Shibuya was living a pretty normal life. That changed the day he was dunked into a toilet after an attempt to save a classmate from a gang of bullies. Instead of just getting a good soaking, he's pulled in. The next thing he knows, he's in a world that vaguely resembles medieval Europe. If that's not odd enough, he's told that he is to be the next Maoh, just because he has black hair and black eyes. The Maoh is the King of the Mazoku, who are coexisting not-so-peacefully with the humans in this world. Much to his subjects' dismay, he's totally different from the rulers they're accustomed to. He's kind, considerate, a believer in justice, and not willing to use violence to solve conflicts. Not exactly someone they want running a country on the very brink of war. Now, Yuri has to deal with trying to become a good Maoh, while at the same time attempting to adapt to this lands' customs and culture, all in a world where the tension between the humans and Mazoku is reaching its peak.

To be honest, I have no interest of watching this anime in the beginning since the main character, Yuri looks like some sort of an idiot to me. Yes, look can be very deceiving because Yuri doesn't look like the kind of guy who is strong. However, after a few episodes, I was so blown with this anime. Regardless of the fact that Yuri looks like an idiot, he can be very strong even without other people protecting him.
Now, the storyline can be tad funny because Yuri was pulled to the other world via....toilet bowl?? Watching this at first really cracks me up because of all many places, the least expected is via toilet bowl! Regardless of the fact that it's just like a typical suck-into-the-other-dimension kind of anime, the storyline is a breeze to understand. It doesn't have draggy explanation about the other dimension. This anime may feel like you're watching Narnia but this anime is obviously way more interesting than Narnia.
The story can be serious but most of the time, the storyline can be so funny. If you think 78 episodes are all about Yuri getting into troubles, yes, you are right. But some of the troubles he faced can be so funny - way better than the comedy anime. I don't want to spoil you with the humors in this anime here so I'll leave it to you to experience this yourself.
The first season of Kyou Kara Maou is very interesting (I haven't watched Kyou Kara Maou R yet) because there are lots of humors and the storyline is very neat and easy to understand. I know that my first impression about this anime is very bad, but after watching this, I realized that it's a great anime. This anime is a must watch for those who have never watched this anime or if you want to understand the storyline better if you have watched Kyou Kara Maou R.
