Nodame Cantabile anime review
June 5th 2008 02:19
Nodame Cantabile is an anime adapted from the manga by Tomoko Ninomiya which was serialized in Kiss. This anime is also adapted into live action series with the same title. This anime consists of 23 episodes.
Genres: comedy, romance, slice of life
Themes: music
Synopsis: At a top music academy in Japan, Shinichi Chiaki's arrogance is matched only by his top-notch piano playing. But when Chiaki and the teacher get into a fight, he's demoted to the reject class. Chiaki is left to pursue his dream of being a conductor while surrounded by a bunch of loser musicians and one annoying girl, Noda, who has proclaimed herself Chiaki's girlfriend. It doesn't help that Noda, who insists on being called Nodame, lives right next door to him.

Comment: If you never listened to classical music before (I mean really never) then Nodame will make you exposed to the classical music. If you think classical music is boring (sorry, no offense) never ever think this anime is boring. This anime really exposed you to the world of classical music but in a fun way. Your knowledge in classical music will expand more if you know just a little bit about all those classical pieces. The story itself really gives you a very good inside scoop of what music students are struggling and their activities. It sounds really serious but don't worry, humors always spice things up in Nodame. I highly recommend you watching this anime whether you like classical music or not. Classical music is always the main focus in this anime but slice of life is also another focus so it's worth watching it.
