Comment:

I think this is the funniest anime I've ever watched. This anime is basically funny because it's a comedy anime but what I find it funny is not because of the jokes. To summarize it, this anime may look like the typical historical anime like Rurouni Kenshin but it doesn't look that way. If you watched the second episode later, you will see that the way they recap the previous episode is funny. Instead of showing us the previous episode the normal way, they used TV as a medium for episode recap. Obviously TV doesn't exist during that era right? Another funny thing I noticed in this anime is how they presented Akihabara where the Akihabara portrayed in this anime is just like the current Akihabara (you know, the otaku culture) and they also love blogging and YouTube. So I find that these elements are the funniest part but also the charming part about this anime. With all those elements I've mentioned, it doesn't feel like watching historical anime.

Speaking about the storyline, the storyline maybe a bit confusing at first especially if you're stuck with the idea that it's a historical anime. I was also confused at first because Sora in alien form appeared in the beginning of the story which makes me doubt whether I'm watching the right anime or not. Of course, if you're stuck with the historical anime mind setting, you will think there's no such things as alien in historical drama. As the story progressed, every bits of mysteries are properly explained so it will allow you to answer whatever curiosity you have.

In case you're wondering, the name of the characters in this anime are based on the real people such as Mizuno-sama, Tamaya and Kagiya. I'm not really sure about the actual history but the only part I know is purely fiction is Sora and The Retired Resident (seriously they called him that!). Therefore, it may sounds like it doesn't relate with the history at all but it's actually does.

Overall, if you think watching historical anime is boring, think again. I know most historical anime such as Peacemaker Kurogane and Rurouni Kenshin are more into fights and blood splashing but this anime has the best of both worlds. It also contains blood splashing but this part is only a minor thing. At least we know that during that era, there are still peace and harmony other than riots. This anime is really funny and I highly recommend you to watch this.
