Pandora Hearts is an anime adapted from the manga by Jun Mochizuki. The anime is scheduled to have 25 episodes altogether.
Genres: adventure, fantasy, mystery
Synopsis: Oz Bezarius, heir to one of the duke houses, has just turned fifteen. His life is rich and carefree, darkened only by the constant absence of his father. At his coming-of-age ceremony, however, everything changes. For no reason that he can discern, he's cast into the prison known as the "Abyss", only to be saved by a "chain" known as Alice, the bloodstained black rabbit. It is unknown why was he cast into Abyss, how does Alice factor into it all, and what does the organization known as "Pandora" want with him.

When I watched the first episode of this anime, I don't really understand much about the storyline. I also noticed that the progress is kinda slow at first. Things become interesting when Oz fell into the Abyss and he met Alice. But still, there are quite a lot of mysteries haven't been revealed yet as far as I've watched this anime. Storyline-wise, you will only be able to grasp the main idea of this anime only after you have watched the first few episodes. Therefore, watching only just the first episode will not make you understand the plot. I'm not sure whether it really does follow the manga storyline or not but my friend who reads the manga said that it does follow the manga storyline. Since it is scheduled to have 25 episodes, let's just pray hard that Square Enix didn't screw the anime version since they tend to make a confusing ending for the anime (think Soul Eater and Kuroshitsuji)
One thing I noticed is, Alice really reminds me of Shana from Shakugan No Shana. I've no idea whether this is just a coincidence or not but somehow more or less she really resembles Shana a lot. I only just watch a few episodes of Shakugan No Shana but I still manage to remember clearly how Shana looks like. It's up to you how you can accept this but I feel that Alice really does resemble Shana.
Speaking about the character, even though Oz is just a 15-year old boy, he seems to act really mature which I find it really surprise. Well, if Oz is a 15-year old spoil brat, I bet the storyline doesn't go anywhere. Honestly speaking, I've become addicted to this anime thanks to Alice. I like Alice not because she looks like Shana, it's because I find that she doen't behave like a normal girl. It doesn't have anything to do with the fact that she's a Chain, but I think she's really special in her own way.
Overall, this anime is worth a watch not just because it's by Square Enix, but it's because the storyline is great but it's a bit slow for anime version. It can be very dark and gloomy sometimes, but this makes the anime interesting to watch.
