School Rumble anime review

May 26th 2008 01:58
School Rumble is adapted from the manga by Jin Kobayashi. The anime consists of 26 episodes and it is one of Japan's favorite anime.

Genres: action, comedy, drama, romance, slice of life

Age rating: Teenagers (May contain bloody violence, bad language, nudity)

Synopsis: Tsukamoto Tenma is an ordinary 2nd year high school student who has fallen in love with one of her classmates, Karasuma Ooji. However, currently she is unable to confess her feelings to him. To make things worse, she found out that Karasuma is transferring to another school in a year. On the other hand, Tenma's other classmate, Harima Kenji (who is a delinquent) is also in love with Tenma. Not being able to confess his feelings, Harima gets depressed day by day.

Comment: My very first impression about Sukuran (short name for School Rumble) is the story is all about how Tenma is going to confess to Karasuma and Harima who is in love with Tenma. If you think this is just the normal high school anime, you're absolutely wrong. I know you're wondering why because they don't seem to posses any special power and they're just normal high school student so the storyline can be very normal. Well, the storyline is normal but it's not entirely normal. The normal high school storyline can be very boring but believe me, Sukuran is different. In Sukuran, the normal activities are very extraordinary and sometimes can be very hilarious. For example, any student will use umbrella if it's raining but Karasuma has his kappa set and use it when it's raining. Sometimes, some of the scenes can be just plain weird but this is what makes Sukuran truly unique. If you're looking for funny anime, you should watch this.

I've heard about this one, but I've not seen it yet. Sounds quite interesting.
