October 12th 2008 12:51
Soul Eater is an anime adapted from the manga by Atsushi Ohkubo. It's an on-going anime brodcasted by TV Tokyo.

Genres: action, adventure, comedy, supernatural

Synopsis: Set in the Shinigami technical school for weapon meisters, the series revolves around 3 groups of each a weapon meister and a human weapon. Trying to make the latter a "Death Scythe" and thus fit for use by the Shinigami, they must collect the souls of 99 evil humans and 1 witch.

Soul Eater is an anime that centers around meisters and their weapons and their mission to collect 99 evil souls and 1 witch soul. Upon doing that the meister's weapons will become a Deathscythe, which is the highest title for a weapon. Maka, Soul Eater, Black Star, Tsubaki, Death the Kid, and Patty and Liz Thompson are the characters Soul Eater revolves around. Besides taking the time to gather souls these students of Shibusen defend Death City from some of the most powerful of creatures while still attending school and trying to become stronger.

Comment: Thanks to my friend, I was really hooked to watch this anime. At first, I was actually having a doubt about this anime because this anime didn't catch my attention when I saw this anime in a magazine. Somehow, when I watch the first episode, I was so drawn to Maka then I realize this anime is damn cool. Set aside my reason why I love this anime a lot because some of you might say I like this anime for the wrong reason. Storyline-wise, this anime has a proper introduction what is the relationship between the weapon meister and the human weapon, why and how they can obtain those 99 evil human souls and 1 witch soul. It stated clearly so if you don't read the manga you'll understand the main point instantly. I'm not really sure about the manga but in anime, the story progress is considerably fast compared to some of the anime that I know because it already goes to the main story in the first few episodes. Not just that, the character introduction is nicely done too making this anime a whole lot interesting. But sometimes, the anime will have some mischellaneous stuff so it might make you confuse with the previous storyline. This is basically not the typical shinigami anime like Bleach so perhaps you should give this anime a try if you don't fancy the shinigami stories. This anime is a comedy anime besides full of action so it's a definitely worth watching it.
