xxxHOLIC is an anime adapted from manga by CLAMP. The anime consists of 24 episodes altogether.
Genres: comedy, drama, fantasy, horror, mystery, psychological, slice of life, supernatural
Themes: ghosts, occult
Synopsis: Kimihiro Watanuki is a young boy who can see evil spirits. Somehow, the evil spirits seem attracted to him. One day, he meets a mysterious woman who called herself Yuuko. She claims that she can help him get rid of his torment with the condition that he works with her until it's enough for him to pay back her service. Therefore, he starts working in her shop and he discovers that the shop is nothing what it seems.

Comment: Actually, I wasn't really fond of watching any works by CLAMP, but somehow I'm giving this anime a try thanks to my friend's recommendation. As you can see the themes here, you definitely have to expect that most of the episodes are pretty spooky. This is one of the anime that I find very spooky. I'm saying this because how they visualize the superstitions in a spooky way really hits my psychology hard. All superstitions featured in this series is based on the Japanese people believe so it may differ with the western superstitions. In terms of storyline, the storyline is random but in a good way. This anime is a must watch if you love anything by CLAMP, really curious about superstitious stuffs and love supernatural. Avoid this anime if you don't like horror and ghosts-related stuffs because this anime is really scary. I really mean it this time........
