This is fantastic that there is a continuation from this animeI'm pretty much feel very lonely ever since there are so many anime that I have watched have ended. I always had this kind of thought that the second season will always be horrible even though the first season was great. But somehow, I am really glad that the second season seems much better than the first season.
Here's why. In terms of storyline, I would say that the storyline is more focused on the real life aspect as a patissiere. Rather than they were spoon-feeding, they were given a task to run their own business, which is essential if you want to showcase your own talent if you decide to open the store under your name. Since I am very interested on the business aspect shown in this anime, it is really wonderful to see something like this since this is the least I expect from this anime.
Even though the anime focuses on the business aspect, that doesn't mean it will lose the typical Yumeiro Patissiere flavor. Creative ideas are nicely presented but for this anime, it is still refers back to the business aspect. If you're expecting there'll be more nice looking cakes like the first season, I doubt we will see any for this season. I think they decide that those nice looking cakes would be enough for the first season so they decide to concentrate on something else which is crucial for any patissiere.
Obviously everyone's look has totally changed just because they want to highlight the transition from middle school students to high school students (apparently Kashino doesn't change at all in the second season, lol). New characters are added and less-showtime characters are given more exposures in the second season. Even though the amount of characters have increased in the second season, I think it's not as drastic as you thought.
Overall, this is indeed a great anime but if you really want to know in depth, you really need to watch the first season. Otherwise, you may not be able to grasp much about their relationship. Too bad this anime only have 13 episodes (unless I got it wrong). Looks like I need to start searching for another anime to watch.
